I Am Empire

I Am Empire is a group made up of longtime friendships and collaborations dating back nearly ten years. The newest member, Eric Martin on drums, has been a friend of the band for two years while the other four members grew up together playing in the same bands throughout high school and college.

The band made a huge impact on the San Jose scene in 2006/07 being known for their down to earth attitudes and infectious style of songs. During this time they released their first album and an EP, "A Sail Set North" and "The Cause And Effect EP” respectively. (Now compiled into a single album titled "Letters")

Buzz surrounding this band was so great; the release of their E.P. pulled 400 plus people to its release show in May. Then in the summer of 2007, I Am Empire ventured out to Eastern Europe for a two month tour with the help of a local promotion company. Though the promotion company left the band with no tour booked and no money the day after they arrived, the band made quick connections and booked their own tour and faced the costs and uncertainties of a foreign country alone. Once they returned home the band quickly adopted a "what doesn’t kill us makes us stronger" mentality and started writing for a new album. This album is full of the bands strongest material to date and they are determined to get out on the road and bring their
infectious music to new ears.
