My goal is to be able to make music that the people can relate to. If I can help just one person through a bad time, if one person can realize they aren't alone, maybe make one person smile, or help one child through a tough time.

The making of...Me!!

Born and raised in Illinois Laurie Lynn Starr is my given name. Yes it's REAL :)

Right off the bat...I knew I was not like the rest back home. I loved the country no doubt but wanted nothing more than to spend my life on the stages of the world singing my music. I love and admire my little hometown and everyone in it...I just knew it wasn't where I could stay. I'm most likely more country than most people that claim to be. Anyone who has been to my homestead would know...there isn't a thing but the Green Gables (bar/grill/worm shop) for atleast 8 miles...unless you are counting the corn, bean, and wheat fields. In town we have a few churches, a few bars, a bank or two, little shops, and a school. I had 42 people in my graduating class. Everyone knows everyone in Lexington!! Just wasn't enough to get me to where I knew I was headed. Thanks to my parents I started vocal training when I was 6...and continued until I was out of college. I also studied piano for 10 years and to be honest...I don't remember much about piano...but I still make due. After high school I attended college at Eastern Illinois University where I studied music and then transfered to Illinois State Universtiy where I studied Interior Design and music. Guess what???? I quit to start a band and got married....oh NO my parents were not lovin that at all. I married my childhood sweetheart Tom Killian who is also a dreamer following his dreams to be running his own architectural design build firm. Tom is a graduate of the University of Illinois School of Architecture...I'm so proud of him...so, an Irish guy and Italian girl...you can bet we have some good debates...but still together and stronger now than ever after two AWESOME boys and 22 years! So after the wedding....and after letting my parents get over the fact that I had quit school...LOL...I formed my band "Some Kinda Country" and we played little pubs and some fairs and festivals through out Centeral Illinois. I was picked up two years later by Cowboys Dance Club in Georgia as the lead female vocalist for almost 4 years. Through the years I have opened for acts such as Rascal Flatts, Keith Urban, Lonestar, Jo Dee Massina, Big and Rich, Montg. Gentry, and many more. My show is that of an entertainer and I'm not afraid to say it...cause I really am an entertainer first!! After leaving Cowboys and moving to Nashville I began to spend my time writing and recording and have been at it for the last 5 years. I have cut 11 songs towards my album, now have 4 videos , and have been honored to write and work with some of the best!! Nashville is home now to ALL of us!!

I am thankful to God...for this life and my gift, to Dean Sams for finding me in Atlanta, helping me to hit the ground runnin, and for spending his time and talent producing the music you know thus far, to Stuart Dill for his direction and support, Glenn Swietzer for putting his talents behind my photos, the "Rewrite History" video and the new "That's The Sound" video, Keech Rainwater for his talented eye on the "Cinderella" video, Curt Jones and company for the push behind the last project, Ken Levitan and the Vector crew for all the hard work at my showcase, Walt Moore for keepin the fans in check, and others I'd like to name are....Justin Niebank (great ear!!) , Mark Bright, Jerry Gowen, Ben Fowler, Jed Hacket, Trish Townsend, Jan Linville, Chip Martin, Glen Mitchell, Mike Hines, Marty Dodson, all the other directors, engineers, crews, musicians, friends, fans, and writers that I can't thank enough for teaching me the ropes and keepin me headed in the right direction. Last but not least my family!! When I sat my family down and said I'm gonna move to Nashville, they were all smillin and scared at the same time...but they said...ok lets go. They support me 110%. I didn't even ask...kinda selfish huh? My husband left his job, my children left their friends and school, my parents who have lived back home all their lives left it all behind to follow me. We left a beautiful little farm my grandfather built with his own two hands and 7 acres. They left all of the security behind...to follow a dreamer....me!! I love them more than these words can make you understand.

Currently I am making some changes and I am excited to see what's ahead!! This road has been full of mountains but I'm not afraid to keep climbing. I started this journey MANY years ago and Lord knows I have paid my dues. I've worked my butt off to get here and there is plenty of it left to keep on!:)! This is my gift and how rude would that be not to give it all of me?? I LOVE WHAT I DO!!! When someone finally figures out that I'm really what I claim to be...they will be as excited as I am about where I'm headed!! My journey has been one of many emotions...but mostly it's one filled with creating and sharing some great music with some great people.
